- Iulian Chifu: “Romania had never had territorial claims toward its Eastern neighbors”

- The idea of the reintegration of Romania-after the condemnation by the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact and liquidation of its consequences in Northern Europe, by the recognition of the independence of the three Baltic States – was seen in Romania, after the revolution in 1989. But since the elections of 2000, this idea disappeared completely and the paradigm was change in the one claiming that both Romanian states, Romania and Republic of Moldova, should be members of EU and NATO.

- The disputes over the ethnical identity, coupled with the internal political crisis in Moldova of 2009 have substantially worsened the bilateral relations of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. My intention isn’t to exercise criticism or to launch political appreciations but to suggest some ideas which can be useful in order to stop the escalation of bilateral tensions between Bucharest and Chişinău and to rebuild the confidence between the two countries.

- Poland has demonstrated institutional stability following the Smolensk tragedy, yet economic stability in the middle of the financial crisis, and growing consistency in its foreign policy promise to make the upcoming period challenging. A "window of opportunity" had opened for Ukraine to take an advantage of the delicate situation of the present Polish Government that is Eager to show itself as maintaining and continuing engagement with country’s eastern neighbors and not forfeiting the region in exchange for better relations with Russia.

- The Dusk of Solidarity

- Despite the great unifying role of Solidarity movement, it still remains the dividing line in Polish society, the front line of Polish civil war, which physically ended in 1989, yet ideologically still continues to be fought. The inability of Law and Justice Party to behave in co-operation terms leaves the extermination tactic as the only possible interaction with other political forces. On the other side, the Civic Platform and the Union of Democratic Left have a proved historical record of both peaceful co-existence and fruitful co-operation with its coalition partners and a possibility of future coalition between them.

- Given the Russian blitzkrieg, former Ukraine leader Leonid Kuchma's notion of a "multi-vector policy" - in which Ukraine maintains a balancing act between Russia and the EU - may be the most optimistic scenario. But many predict that the EU and, speaking more broadly, the West will have an ever-decreasing role in Ukraine's future. If Russia manages to take over Ukraine, as Gazprom is to take control of Naftogaz, the EU's former-Communist eastern flank will feel much less secure.

The best experience of NATO and European countries, adapted to Ukrainian situation, can guaranty the national security of Ukraine, the safety and welfare of our citizens.
